- constructing a new train station in West Wodonga
The North East Rail Revitalisation Project is jointly funded, with the Commonwealth Government providing $156.5 million, the Victorian Government $171.3 million and Australian Rail Track Corporation $285 million.
Project Benefits
- The bypass will enable trains to operate more efficiently between Melbourne and Sydney on the important interstate rail line.
- The project is a major economic initiative for the region that will open the way for significant commercial investment, job creation, revitalisation of the city centre and assist Wodonga's development as a thriving regional hub.
- The Wodonga Rail Bypass will enable the removal of the rail line and 11 level crossings from Wodonga, freeing up land for redevelopment as well as improving safety for rail passengers and road users.
